September 2026

‍ ‍

September is upon us, and we will be kicking off this next season with a bang.

First off, in order to get in line with the Holy Spirit’s purpose for this season, we will be commencing with a half night of prayer on Thursday 3rd September. This is open to ALL and it will run from 7pm to 11pm. Make this a priority even if you can only be there for a part since we are setting the spiritual temperature of our church for the coming months.

On the first Sunday of September, we will be saying a fond final farewell to Ethan who is heading for fresh fields and pastures new. As a result, we have been rethinking how we do our youth work. We will be creating a new over 16s group on a Tuesday, meeting at Church 7:30 to 9pm, and leaving our Friday nights for our 11-15s.

I’ll also be starting a new series in September – Lessons from the Life of David. We’ll be digging through parts of the Old Testament and even the New as we explore this Shepherd Boy become King – Giant killer, Adulterer, Cheesemaker, Psalmist, Warrior, ‘A man after God’s heart’, and finally, King. On September 13th we welcome long-time friend of Gateway Dr Rob Baldwin to speak for us.

Life groups will be restarting in earnest on the week starting the 7th with our life group social on the week of the 21st. Once again it is worth saying that these are the life blood of our fellowship and community – If you aren’t a part of a Life Group and would like to be, please speak to myself or Elder David and we will try and sort a group out for you.

Safeguarding is a priority here in Gateway - creating a space where all feel welcomed, and all feel safe. As part of our ongoing endeavours to build that in our community we have Safeguarding training on Sat 12th September, running from 9:30am to 1pm. There will be a sign-up sheet so you can confirm you will be coming.

‍At the end of September Above and Beyond is back!!!! We will gather at 7pm on Wed 30th – first order is to eat and then on to study together. The first session will be looking into the debate of Creation vs Evolution – it’s a rich vein to look into and I hope I’ll be able to help you understand some of the underlying science as well as some of the theology.

‍I sign off once again by saying that your prayers, your giving, and your commitment to God here in Gateway make a huge difference so keep praying for us as we continue to pray for you.

‍Much love
