October 2026

October is upon us. It is very much the point at which we recognise the shift through Autumn and on into Winter as the leaves turn yellow and drop and rain becomes more of a constant. By the end of the month, we will return to GMT when clocks go back an hour on 25th October.

I am excited that there are two brilliant initiatives on the prayer front specifically for men starting in October. The first is called Sons of Thunder and it is the chance for men to gather and pray each Monday at 7:30pm. The second is a Saturday Morning Prayer breakfast - a chance to meet, fellowship, pray, and eat a full English! You can’t get tastier than that! So men, set aside the morning of Sat 24th October – we will gather at 8:30 am to pray and once we’ve done the heavy lifting in prayer, we will get wonderfully fed.

On the 25th October we welcome Nigel Tween as our guest speaker. Nigel is one of Elim’s great statesmen, and it is a great honour to have him with us. Earlier in the month Liz and I will be taking a holiday break – a chance to recharge after a long summer and make sure we are ready for the build up to Christmas festivities – I know! It’s really not that long until Christmas. The rough outline of the church Christmas programme looks like this:

Dec 6th – Church Christmas Meal

Dec 13th – Christmas Nativity

Dec 20th – AM – Christmas Carols; PM Candlelit Christmas Celebration.

Dec 25th – 10 AM – Christmas Day service

Dec 27th – No service

Dec 31st – 10:30pm – New Year’s Eve communion – celebrate the new year.

We will get more detail out on all of these as the weeks race on, but please pop these into your diaries for now.

Before we get to Christmas though, we will be holding our next church members AGM on 15th November. And we want to hold a Baptismal service in November as well – the date is still TBC at present. If you haven’t been baptised but would like to, then please get in touch with me or Elders David or Denise.

Finally, let me sign off once again by saying that your prayers, your giving, and your commitment to God here in Gateway make a huge difference so keep praying for us as we continue to pray for you.

Much love

Pastor Dave & Liz
